How can you not put Dunkirk in your Top 10, simply based on his awesome performance at 9 furlongs against an allowance field -- touted anyway -- as being stronger than many previous 3-year-old stakes fields?

You can talk about speed figures all you want, but the reality is how this horse is running and winning makes him impressive. If speed figures dictated every race, it would be pretty easy to handicap.

Obviously, you're entitled to your opinion, but leaving him out after one of the most impressive starts so far by a 3-year-old seems curious.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35403587.post-33541909015010638602009-02-25T13:20:00.000-07:002009-02-25T13:20:00.000-07:00I said I mistrust the Gulfstream allowance routes....I said I mistrust the Gulfstream allowance routes. Imperial Council was in a sprint.

I also said I'm wary of any horse whose reputation is built on those races. Even if imperial council had run in a gulfstream route allowance I like him a ton based on his 2yo season. Horses like Free Country, Dunkirk and Danger To Society are the ones I'm talking about.Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14149130617213590448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35403587.post-26303249024588613922009-02-25T12:46:00.000-07:002009-02-25T12:46:00.000-07:00Love your posts, but can't figure out why, in deny...Love your posts, but can't figure out why, in denying Dunkirk, you cite the poor quality of Allowance races at GP then, in the very next paragraph, reinforce Imperial Council as your top choice.

I agree the comparison to Big Brown is folly, though fun.

Thanks again for the great posts.TheChicagoRailbirdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07843450376535594880noreply@blogger.com
