This weekend was more about class confirming itself than new contenders emerging. Fleet Indian and English Channel made it into the top 10 this week at the expense of Wait A While and TH Approval. Bernardini moved up 4 spots to take the #2 ranking and now an interesting battle for HOY will ensue. Lava Man has a formidable lead of 131.18 points. For Bernardini to surpass him he ust both win the Classic and have Lava Man finish off the board. The TCR leadership is really up to Lava Man. If he runs well in the Classic he will own the top ranking, and really I dont mind at all. Lava Man exemplifies what a Horse of the Year should look like. He's undefeated, on the go since January, a G-1 winner on both surfaces and the BC will be his 8th start. That looks like the most solid campaign since Mineshaft.
There wasnt much movement in the divisional standings. Henny Hughes makes his first appearence in the top 3, and the juvenile catergory has a new leader in Great Hunter but the Champagne S is still to come. If Scat Daddy wins it there will be little between Great Hunter, Circular Quay and Scat Daddy.
