Horses to Toss: 2007

This is more speculative list of horses who I think are going to underachieve next year. Mostly they are horses who I think benefitted from specific situations or are simply not the type to improve later on.

Street Sense - If I had to gamble on the direction of his career at this point I'd say that he'll never duplicate that effort he gave on BC day. It would not shock me to see this horse falter on the Triple Crown trail.

Thor's Echo - This horse is not a winner, now its entirely possible that he turned a corner but I think he just had a great day at the right time. This is a horse who has won just twice beyond April of his 3yo year. I expect him to resume his habit of running well without winning. But the difference is next year he'll be short priced wherever he goes.

Bushfire - The bubble may already be burst but this filly should struggle against older mares, even when she becomes one. She was lucky that Pine Island had not matured around the time she was winning G-1's. Because they were weak events.

Jazil - I dont know if his campaign will see him spend much time in America but I do not think very highly of the Belmont winner. He's a late runner who will always find himself disadvantaged pace wise and he has never been very quick. He may get one stakes win next year if a race falls apart but I would be surprised if he managed a lot of top flight success.
