Idea of the Day

Okay here is my brilliant idea that could change the world. You know how every university has bird courses that are compulsory for first year students? Almost everyone ends up taking courses that are just time fillers and have no real relation to their ultimate educational goal.

My idea is to make one of those courses a study in etiquette. It could fall under the intellectual realm of social science but think of all the ways it could be interesting and informative and change individuals and in turn society.

There are matters of etiquette that concern almost every aspect of life. One could also get into a study of proper manners of other culture's. Which could be very useful in certain types of business. A big one would be etiquette around the dinner table, especially as it concerns other cultures. Have a business lunch with investors from Japan? Wouldnt it be nice to be able to know exactly how to show them the utmost respect?

You could even get a little old english on people just to bend the way they think.

Anyway, just a thought. Because so many students complain that they are forced to take courses that they dont really need. They just need the credit. Why not given them something they could use in every facet of life?
