Weekend review

None of the big names in racing were in action this weekend. A few of them will highlight the Thanksgiving weekends though. There were a few good performances though. First off I have to give a tip of the cap to True Metropolitan, his record this is 11-7-3-0. Its not too often that a westerner comes to Woodbine and is successful, but this guy was more than successful. He blew them away in easy style, and actually moved to 4th place in the TCR rankings for older dirt horses. However his lack of a G-1 disqualifies him from being a voting finalist.

The performance of the weekend for my money was from J'Ray in the Mrs Revere. Last year I tipped her as a horse to watch and her campaign has been nothing short of disastrous. She won nicely at Calder in January. Then she wasnt seen until Keenland in April where she was a decent third. Then it all went wrong and she wasnt able to get back to the races until Keeneland's Fall Meet where she clearly needed that race. But she closed like a freight train and very nearly caught Precious Kitten. This pint sized Megahertz lookalike has some talent and hopefully she can get on track for next year. Its nice to know she still has it.

The Hollywood Prevue looked like an unusually strong race. I think both Belgravia and Dilemma could have futures. But for Belgravia he needs to prove it on a real dirt surface.
