Weekend Review

Weekend Overview: A pretty busy week for this time of year. It was a real shame that Calder's turf events were washed off and run on the main track. The sloppy conditions sort of put a cloud over the whole card. Nice to see Bishop Court Hill get back in the winners circle in the Gravesend. The Hollywood juvenile stakes were good to watch as usual. They didnt give the impression that they were really top notch races but they were fun to watch.

Performance of the Weekend: Very tempted to give it to Down, because I thought she ran a heck of a race. However I think I have to give Weigelia his due. He handled the Kenny Noe field with ease. The distance seemed like it might be a problem for him but after setting fast fractions he just kept on rolling in dominating fashion.

Race of the Weekend: Stormello and Liquidity's duel in the Hollywood Futurity was perhaps the most exciting or eye pleasing race. The race ended up being a match race between them and Stormello showed great determination to pull it off. I'm not taking anything away from Liquidity though, he was a longshot and he certainly outdid expectations.

Flop of the Weekend: Sorry to say it because he's had a grand old year but Nightmare Affair is this weekend's flop. He outclassed the field, he was running over his preferred course. The distance was perhaps his favorite and he has been good over off tracks. He simply didnt show up this weekend.

TCR Movers and Shakers: No changes to the standings you see listed in the right hand column however some horses did work themselves into the top 5. In early January I'll be conducting the first annual TCR awards. In order to be eligable a horse must be in the top 5 in the standings themselves. Stormello moved to 5th in the Juvenile division while Romance Is Diane went to 4th in the Juvenile Fillies division. Nightmare Affair also got a few points to move him just beyond Silver Train and into 4th in the Sprint division.

Tip O'the Cap: This weeks tip of the cap goes to Flanagan.90 who voiced his support for Stormello. In a week where my advice was somewhere between useless and terrible, Flanagan's tip was the only profitable information to be found. Also since I've had about 5 comments total in this blog anyone who posts one becomes the front runner my tip o'the cap ;)
