All Hail Arravale

Arravale was named Canada's Horse of the Year and I am quite pleased with that result. Its not easy for a 3yo Turf filly to gain recognition but this has been something special all her career. I very much look forward to her season next year. Perhaps she will be able to even the score with Wait A While.

Here is a list of all the other Sovereign Award winners along with thier TCR placing. In this previous post I had given the TCR standings for the Canadian season and nearly all the finalists were right in line with the point standings. It is interesting now to see how many champions were the top ranked horses

Horse of the Year: Arravale (2nd)
Older Male: True Metropolitan (1st)
Older Female: Financingavailable (1st)
Turf Male: Sky Conqueror (1st)
Turf Female: Arravale (1st)
Sprinter: Judiths Wild Rush (1st)
3yo Colt: Shillelagh Slew (1st)
3yo Filly: Kimchi (1st)
2yo Colt: Leonnatus Anteas (1st)
2yo Filly: Catch The Thrill (1st)

From 10 awards given to horses 9 of them were awarded to the top TCR horse. The only case where the top ranked horse wasnt the champion was in the case of Horse of the Year where True Metropolitan had a 6.10 point advantage over Arravale. That deficit would have been easily overturned with the voting.
